Babno Polje is a picturesque karst field located that stretches over an area of approximately 16 square kilometres with a captivating landscape. It is known for its impressive karst features, such as sinkholes, underground rivers, and disappearing streams.

Wildlife Watching

Babno Polje is a haven for diverse plant and animal species. The field is home to numerous rare and protected plants. Additionally, the region supports a range of wildlife, including bear, deer, foxes, wolves, lynx, and various bird species that are attracted by the wetlands and lush meadows.

• Bear watching experience: Take a Day with the Bear and become acquainted with the brown bear's habitat and observe this exceptional animal from a hide in the middle of the forest. There is also an option to take a Brown Bear Photography Tour or Bear watching.

• A tree hut experience:  If you want to truly feel the nature and follow the variables of its daily cycles, you have to take time. A  tree house has all the required equipment to put you up for the night.

• National park Risnjak (1 h) is situated in the most mountainous Croatian region – Gorski kotar, only 15 kilometers north of the Adriatic Sea. Risnjak is a true forest kingdom with interesting flora and fauna.

Bordering to Croatian hinterlands, Babno polje was a part of ancient trade routes that connected the Adriatic Sea to central Europe, leaving behind a rich historical legacy and vivid local craftship and artisanal heritage.
